  • The Mustard Seed - This eclectic restaurant is one of our all-time favorites. The Mustard Seed offers many vegetarian dishes along with seafood, pasta and meat dishes.   • High Thyme - Visit this Sullivan's Island restaurant for an enjoyable, casual, dining experience. Kenny, the owner, often greets customers with a big smile and friendly, southern "hello."   • Coco's Cafe - Many golf vacationers pass by this unassuming French bistro that is located in a strip mall without a second glance. Don't make the same mistake.   • Jestine's Kitchen - Great Southern/Lowcountry home cooking in historic downtown Charleston. The sweet tea and fried chicken are voted best in the city year in and year out. Get their early as there is often a line out the front door. 251 Meeting St., Downtown Charleston, 843-722-7224.
  • The Wreck of the The Richard & Charlene - A true local's favorite. This seafood gem is known around town as "The Wreck." Don't judge this former icehouse by its exterior. Judge it by its amazing fried southern seafood. Skip the other tourist-filled seafood establishments on Shem Creek and eat at "The Wreck." 106 Haddrell St., Mount Pleasant, 843-884-0052.
  • J.Bistro - One of the best restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina for a long time, J. Bistro has been voted "Best Restaurant in Mount Pleasant" for seven years running. 819 Coleman Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, 843-971-7778.
  • The Boathouse - There are two locations of this dining establishment that serves "Simply Fresh Seafood" as well as great steaks, pastas and chops. The downtown location features a raw bar.   • Gullah Cuisine Charlotte Jenkins and her husband Frank serve some of the best Gullah/Southern cooking you will ever put in your mouth.   • Joseph's Restaurant - Sunday brunch is a specialty at this family-operated Charleston restaurant. But brunch is not the only good food at Joeseph's. Everything is great.
