Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Our Review and Hotel Deals

Planet Hollywood Las Vegas polishes Aladdin's lamp but ends up with a tarnished product.

Sure the Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas is still undergoing renovations but after a recent trip to Sin City we at Perfect Golf Vacations are unimpressed with the former Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.

If you are looking for a great location on the Las Vegas Strip, plan to play lots of golf and gamble in other casinos while saving some money on accommodations, then we can still get you a deal at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas.

In all seriousness, the next time we head out to Las Vegas for a golf vacation we will roll the dice again and see if this hotel has upgraded enough for us to give it our full recommendation. In the meantime, proceed with caution but don't totally discount staying at the Planet Hollywood Hotel in Las Vegas.

Planet Hollywood Las Vegas - Pluses and Minuses

Let's start with some positives. The first is location. The former Aladdin Hotel is located on The Strip across the street from the Bellagio and a short walk to Caesar's Palace and quite a few other casinos.

PGV.com Insider's Tip - Book a room with a fountain view. At night you get a spectacular seat for the Bellagio's fountain show.

Another plus was the Spice Market Buffet. This buffet features quite an array of cuisines from sushi to steak to pasta and the food is very good. In fact, the Spice Market Buffet was voted "#1 Buffet in Las Vegas" in 2007. There is also a P.F. Chang's on location.

If you like to shop while on your golf vacation, then you will enjoy the Miracle Mile Shops which wrap around the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. There are around 170 shops and 15 restaurants.

Now for some of the negatives. The sports book was horrific. The only worse one we have seen was at the Tropicana. We hope the second-hand sofas, fold-out tables and tiny televisions will be replaced in the future.

The gaming area has no atmosphere and just feels tossed together haphazardly and the bars have no distinct feel either. In all, most of the changes to the former Aladdin seem superficial and to be honest the place just feels cheap.

Like we said in the beginning, we at Perfect Golf Vacations understand that the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino is still renovating.

Because of that we are willing to give this Las Vegas hotel another chance as some of the changes look positive. But for now, there is much to left to do to get this place up to par.
