Renaissance Hotel in Downtown Asheville, North Carolina is Not Highly-Recommended
by Evans
Evans here from Perfect Golf Vacations... Stayed at this hotel once a while back because I really wanted to stay in the heart of downtown Asheville. Because of that desire, I was willing to pay the $200-plus price tag for the convenience of being within walking distance of the civic center(where I was attending an event) and a multitude great Asheville restaurants and bars. Without going in detail here(I'll post a link to an article I wrote on my experience at the end of this page), I can tell you that the experience was quite disappointing. This was a while back and the hotel was undergoing renovations so I will give them a pass on that. However, it would be nice to maybe give a discounted rate if you are going to inconvenience your visitors with constant pounding, grinding, etc. In fact, it would be nice to tell people about those renovations before they reserve a room. The real problem with the Renaissance was with the service. Quite frankly, it was horrible. It was not worthy of $19.95 dollar-a-night roadside motel. Even when they staff had opportunities to apologize or try and make a small gesture to make things right, well, that seemed like the last thing on their mind. If the customer service and amenities have not been overhauled and upgraded, then I would have to say you should pass on this hotel in downtown Asheville, North Carolina.
